mystery trip

mystery tripThe 37 girls who attended the Mystery Trip for the Fall Product Sales Program and the Girl Scout Cookie Program had a rocking good time! The girls – who all sold at least 1,000 boxes of cookies or $1,000 of items during the Fall Product Program traveled to Indian Echo Caverns in Hummelstown, PA. The girls went cave exploring, gem mining and earned a badge by learning about the “rockin’ rocks” with hands-on activities and live presentations.

Thanks to hard working Girl Scouts and their generous customers, more than 27,000 boxes of Girl Scout Cookies are headed to men and women in the U.S. Armed Forces as well as many local charities on the Delmarva Peninsula. This year is the 10th anniversary of Operation Taste of Home and our partnership with USO Delaware at Dover Air Force Base. Since 2003, our customers have donated 323,000 boxes of cookies. Half of the cookies sold through Operation Taste of Home go to military organizations including USO Delaware, the National Guard, Steel Magnolia Ministries, Operation We Care and the Military Support Affinity Group. Take a look at a photo slideshow created by Steel Magnolia Ministries of the care packages put together for military members – including lots of cookies!

This month's featured badges are the Campfire badges, currently available for Brownies (shown left)and Cadettes/Seniors/Ambassadors (shown right). Learning how to build a campfire safely is a traditional part of Girl Scouting. Spending time around the campfire singing songs or making s'mores is a favorite part of camping for many girls. In June, the Campfire badges are 10% off in The Bay Shop.

Memorial Day
memorial day parade

GSCB girls recognized Memorial Day through participation in both the Newark and Wilmington parades. In Newark, Troop 537 carried signs recognizing historic military women. We are grateful for the dedication and sacrifices our U.S. Armed Forces make every day to protect our nation.

Congratulations Graduates!
graduate capCongratulations to our Girl Scouts who will be graduating from high school this year. It is our hope that you will want to continue and share your experiences, passion and knowledge, whether it be working directly with girls or behind the scenes. You don’t have to make a big time commitment to make a big impact. You are exactly the role model girls tell us they want. If you would like to continue in this way, please email Renee Naughton or call 302-456-7150. Also, if you will complete your Girl Scout Gold Award by June 30, 2013, please fill out the Delmarva Power Foundation Scholarship Form and send to Sharisse Borst postmarked no later than July 17, 2013.
