Girl Scouting Night With The Sevens

All Girl Scout grade levels
WHEN: February 20, 2016, 7 p.m. (Please arrive by 5 p.m. to be in the parade and STEM seminar hosted by Elena Delle Donne.)

Every Girl Scout in attendance will get to participate in our Pre-game Girl Scout Parade!

Register by calling Chanelle Reynolds, 302-351-5382 or email chanellereynolds@sevens.com. The first 5 troops to register will receive a chance to participate in the evening's cookie booth!

Girl Scouts World Thinking Day Celebration 2016

All Girl Scout grade levels
Explore your world! Grab a passport and travel the world as you visit international displays from Girl Scout troops around the region. Learn about the foods of Central America, the castles of Europe, the unique wildlife of Australia, and much more.
WHEN: February 21, 2016, 1 p.m. – 3 p.m.
WHERE: The Carriage House at Rockwood Park 4651 Washington St. Extension, Wilmington, DE 19809
COST: Free (girl or adult), includes Thinking Day patch.
REGISTRATION: Pre-registration is required through vendor. Please contact DLFrancisco@nccde.org or call 302-761-4340 to register, sign up to display a country (only two of each country will be represented, so register early) or other activities to start your troop preparing for World Thinking Day.
NOTE: All Girl Scouts must be in uniform for the event. Min 10/Max 100.

Scout Day at the Museum

Join museum staff and volunteers for a fun-filled evening! We will have a variety of crafts, live animal presentations and more – all geared towards meeting badge requirements.

Learn about Girl Scout history and the life and times of Juliette Low.  Play old-fashioned games, make old-fashioned crafts and learn manners while enjoying “Afternoon Tea”.

Use telescopes, binoculars, and the naked eye to observe a crescent moon low in the west, Jupiter rising in Leo, Orion sinking in the south, and other celestial sights. Learn the secret of the North Star and constellations visible year-round. Join the ranks of Citizen Astronomers around the world by participating in the GLOBE at Night project to assess light pollution. If it is cloudy, we will observe the “virtual” sky in Mt. Cuba’s planetarium.
WHEN: March 12, 2016 and April 9, 2016, 8 p.m. – 10 p.m.
WHERE: Mt. Cuba Astronomical Observatory 3915 Hillside Mill Rd., Greenville, DE 19807
COST: $12 per girl, includes fun patch.

Celebrate Earth Day a little early at Camp Todd! This special spring festival is designed for fun in our natural environment. Make nature crafts, learn how to compost, try geocaching, aim for a bull’s eye at archery ad go zip-lining! Spring has sprung at Camp Todd!

Enjoy an afternoon at the zoo during this special program just for scouts! There will be games, live animal encounters, and other activities all geared toward meeting scout badge requirements. Brandywine Zoo fun patch will be available for purchase.
WHEN: April 9, 2016, 4 p.m. – 6 p.m.
WHERE: Brandywine Zoo, 1001 N. Park Dr., Wilmington, DE 19802
COST: $10 per person; includes all Girl Scouts, leaders, parents, siblings, and additional leaders. One leader free for every 15 people registered.
REGISTRATION: Pre-registration is required through vendor. Please contact: education@brandywinezoo.org.
NOTE: This is an outdoor event so please dress for the weather. Pre-registration strongly suggested by September 30 and March 23. Walk-ins welcome if space available. Check-in for pre-registered participants from 4 p.m. to 4:15 p.m. Additional participants register after 4:15 p.m., if space allows. River Rove!

Delmarva is home to wondrous plants and animals, especially in a rich habitat like the Pocomoke River. Come explore with an expert naturalist, and connect with the beautiful outdoors!

WHERE: Delmarva Discovery Center and Museum, 2 Market St., Pocomoke City, MD 21851
COST: $12 per girl, includes fun patch.
REGISTRATION: Pre-registration is required through vendor. Please contact: education@delmarvadiscoverycenter.org.
NOTE: Dress for weather and wear closed-toe shoes that can get muddy. Bring a water bottle. One adult per 5 children will be admitted for free. The cost for additional adults is $8. Min 8/Max 15.

 

 

Daisy Flower Garden Journey

Take a step on your Flower Garden journey during this fun-filled exploration of the Winterthur Garden.
WHEN: April 30, 2016, 1:30 p.m. – 3:30 p.m. (Please arrive by 1 p.m.)
WHERE: Winterthur Museum, 5105 Kennett Pike, Wilmington, DE 19807
COST: $8 per girl, includes admission for the day.
NOTE: Additional parents and siblings who would like to visit the museum, you will not be participating in the program, must pay the group rate admission ($18 for adults and $8 for children). One adult per troop free. Please wear clothing and shoes appropriate for adventures in the garden. Park in the Visitor Lot and then walk down the path to the Visitor Center to meet for the program. Min 10/Max 20.

Beach Clean-Up at the Seashore!

Earn your “Make the World a Better Place” petal by coming to the Delaware Seashore State Park and learning the importance of keeping our beaches clean. Girls will test out their acting skills and take part in a play of “Rosie’s Story.” The troop will participate in a beach clean-up followed by a picnic lunch in the courtyard.
WHEN: May 14, 2016, 10 a.m. – Noon
WHERE: Indian River Life-Saving Station at Delaware Seashore State Park, 25039 Coastal Hwy., Rehoboth Beach, DE 19971
COST: $10 per girl.
NOTE: All requirements will be met for the Rosie’s Story petal. One adult per child will be expected to stay for duration of program.

Nature Power! - Cooch-Dayett Mills

GS Daisy through Ambassador
Explore the ins and outs of historic Cooch-Dayett Mills and discover how water generated energy is used to run all its machines. Then harness the ultimate power source – the sun! Observe our star with a specially-filtered telescope, do a solar power experiment, construct a simple sundial, make your own solar print and use a solar oven.

Insects ABC’s

Come to the Ward Museum to learn all about insects. Learn about the variety of insects and their body parts while you search for insects around the Ward Museum.
